Privacy Policy — Waqt

Waqt (“the App”) provides daily prayer times, the Qibla direction, a Hijri calendar, and a Qur’an reader with audio. We respect your privacy. This policy explains what data the App uses and why.

Summary

• No account, no sign‑up, and no login.
• We don’t sell your data, show ads, or use third‑party analytics or tracking.
• Your settings, bookmarks, and reading position stay on your device.
• Your location is used only to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction.

Location

With your permission, the App uses your device location to calculate accurate prayer times, determine the Qibla (direction to Mecca), and show your city name. Your approximate coordinates are sent to prayer‑time data providers to retrieve the correct times for your location (see Third‑party services). Location is processed for these purposes only; it is not stored on any server we control and is not used to identify you. You can also choose a city manually instead of granting location access.

Data stored on your device

Your preferences (language, theme, calculation method, notification settings), your selected location, bookmarks, and reading position are stored locally on your device (and, if you use iCloud device backup, within your own backup). This data is not transmitted to us.

Notifications

Prayer‑time and reminder notifications are scheduled locally on your device. We do not operate a push server and do not collect any notification data.

Photos

If you create a verse image and choose to save it, the App saves that image to your Photos library with your permission. The App does not read or access your existing photos.

Third‑party services

To provide prayer times and Qur’an content, the App requests data from the services below. When it does, it may send your approximate location (for prayer times) or content requests (for Qur’an text, fonts, and audio). We do not send them your name, email, or device identifiers.

• Al Quran Cloud (alquran.cloud) — Qur’an text and translations
• Quran.com / QUL / Tarteel CDN — Qur’an page fonts and glyphs
• QuranEnc (quranenc.com) — tafsir (commentary)
• Qur’an recitation audio providers
• Apple — reverse geocoding (turning coordinates into a place name) and standard OS services

These services operate under their own privacy policies.

Data we collect

We (the developer) do not collect, store, or receive any personal data from the App. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no advertising identifiers.

Children

The App is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; the effective date above will change accordingly.
